Yesterday I completed a 100 day social media hiatus.
I don’t have a list of “what I learned” and, I will say that I highly, highly recommend it.
What surprised me:
FOMO never came. I was just as informed as ever, but less frantically so.
I discovered a depth of friendship that is medicinal.
I found the friendly corners of the internet. Without my attention dancing over so much constant input, I was able to pursue enlivening rabbit holes and thoroughly read all those newsletters I’ve very mindfully subscribed to and go deep into a bunch of research I’d been putting off.
All that space I’d given over in service of the scroll re-opened and I’ve started a Very Cool Project I can’t wait to share with you (coming in January 2020 😎 )
Last: We are responsible for our behavior online. We have a say in how and where we place our attention. I’m considering doing a group social media hiatus in January - if this is something you’d be into - let me know below 👇🏽
We can create our very own friendly corner…
I love you ♥️
Keep going.

⛓ All the everythings that captured my attention this week:
📹 Sasha Baron Cohen’s (as himself!) acceptance speech for an award from the Anti-Defamation League is better than that The Social Dilemma documentary on Netflix at explaining social media companies’ lack of ethical leadership and how important it is that we question the role of these platforms in our lives and on our democracies. It’s long (24-ish minutes) but I swear I swear it’s so worth your attention.
🤔 I’ve been digging all of The Sunday Soother’s weekly emails but this one, about “settling for scraps” hit something in my guts and had me lay down on the floor for a while after: “The shamefulness of the statement directed towards an audacious woman: ‘Don't you have enough?’"
i got all teary-eyed just thinking about a social media break. i would love to break with you and others, my friend. i'd be into it 100%. <3
oh Jessy. Yes.
Loved the list on how to support Native. <3 you, Dani!
love you back, so much <3
