I love how you write about what it is to be human. I recently learned that expectations are tied to ideas about perfection. And this idea that if something doesn't work out the way we expected it to is because we are doing something wrong. When really shit happens to all of us. But, how we relate to that shit is our choice. In, The Places that Scare You, Pema Chodron writes about the requisite to leave behind the baggage of the comfort of rejecting whole parts of our experience for the security of welcoming only what is pleasant. Our culture is full of toxic positivity messages that reinforce this idea that if we reject what isn't pleasant it will go away. As if unpleasant is something to be rejected versus a pathway to learn compassion. xoxoxoxoxo
There’s so much that I want to react to here, Dani! For now I’ll just say that it sounds like you’re *right on time.*
thank you Lisa <3
