💀 October writing workshop is on Halloween and the theme is, well, “HALLOWEEN!” Costumes are super encouraged and I do sincerely hope you come play. Register here (Sunday, 10/31, 10am - 12pm PST).
Questions? Just ask. I’m here and I’d love to hear from you.
Tomorrow, I am hitting the road for a 3½ drive up to Mendocino to officiate a beloved friend’s wedding. I am deeply honored and so damn excited (and, I found my DREAM ministerial outfit secondhand! icing on the cake ☺️).
This week has been way too much, but luckily, these days I am able to recognize signals and attend to them before the train leaves the station. What that looks like is working two hours this morning, and then taking the rest of the day off to tend to my inner world. This sounds kinda cool but all I mean is that I will spend today moving slowly, reading my ceremony script out loud many many times, moving my body, getting some nail art from my dearest Estasha, having dinner with another friend who is in town from Boulder, and going to bed hopefully by 8pm. Tending to my inner world means recognizing when I’m at saturation, and then stepping back and doing what is needed to open up some space inside. I know that I want to show up at the apple farm ready to serve, and be present, ready to witness and spend some time with love. I can’t do that if I’m at capacity and my brain is full and my nerves are jittery (having PTO for the first time in years is so damn rad).
Wish me luck, y’all! I will report back next week. And I hope you all get some time to care for yourselves this weekend.
📖Read: “Drag all of the old people out of their houses and tell them that they matter, I thought. The world has been threatening to kill them in their bedrooms, without fanfare, for over a year now. Drag them out into the warm night and remind them of what they made, how they made a difference, how they were the right kind of fathers, the best sorts of neighbors, armed with bread and stories, the most helpful friends, not pretending, saying it’s fine, it’s okay, I know what you mean, the dream lovers, the visionaries, the biggest imaginations, breathtaking acrobatics with zero injuries.” This week’s post from one of my favorite weirdo-brains.
👀Watch: This interview is a couple of years old (I only mention this because everything prior to COVID feels so earnestly optimistic to my 2+-years-into-a-pandemic ears) and I loved the conversation about grace and compassion and the way Nadia grounds so many heady or philosophical subjects right down into the ground.
🎧Listen: We Can Do Hard Things podcast has a two-part interview with Tarana Burke and it is truly a gorgeous conversation. Hella highly recommend.

What lucky friends you have to be getting married by YOU! Good luck (although I know you're going to kill it) and we want to see the ministerial outfit!!!
