💀 October writing workshop theme is “HALLOWEEN.” It will be terrifying and ridiculous and costumes are super encouraged. Register here (Sunday, 10/31, 10am - 12pm PST).
Questions? Just ask. I’m here and I’d love to hear from you.
Magical “word cloud” based off your survey feedback!
We have a raffle winner! Longtime SELF MADE reader Jennifer N. has won a case of Sparkling Botanicals🥳 It was amazing to receive all of your feedback and I am sincerely grateful for your time and care!

Good morning, we made it to—yet another—Friday. YAY.
I collected all your feedback from the SELF MADE reader survey, ran it through an online word cloud generator, and—voila!—the above image popped out.
Looks about right, no?
Considering that this newsletter is devoted to “recovery, creativity and community,” I was happy to see that these themes were by far the most emphasized in your feedback.
Admittedly, I also appreciate that “ass” showed up in the upper left section. I am here to serve!
I particularly loved our friends, the verbs: “looking,” “finding,” “building,” “taking,” “dating,” “saying,” “falling,” “drinking,” “writing,” “fulfilling.” Yes, that’s what we’re doing (or aiming to do less of) here, isn’t it?
So, we’ll keep going. We’ll also expand into some additional realms and categories. Dreamy!
I imagine it took most of y’all ten minutes or less to fill this out - a small blip in your time and attention. To me, this means the world, and I am so sincerely grateful and oh-so-moved. I’m already working on an editorial calendar.
all my love forever, tuya,
xxoo dani
📖Read: Y’all: “We are culturally ingrained with the desire to please, to have porous boundaries in the name of love. Which becomes this weird ouroburos where you don’t ask for what you want and the other person can sense your resentment anyway. Sometimes I see people compromise in ways that clearly crush their soul in an attempt to hold onto a person or an ideal and I just want to shake them: don’t you know who you are? Don’t you think there are things in the world more important than the desire to please?”
👀Watch: This floats around The Instagram every now and again and I appreciate it every damn time. Thanks to @soberblackgirlsclub for posting it again.
🎧Listen: Conspirituality episode 70: Conspiracy Theories Conceal a Burning World is a very long episode but the interview that starts about 46 minutes in with Daniel Sherrell—a climate activist and writer born in 1990, whose book is written to his hypothetical future child—is so gorgeous and profound and I’ve been mulling on it ever since.
Thank you so much for being a part of this community. If you like this newsletter, please consider leaving a comment, sending it to a friend or subscribing. Or respond and say hi, I’d love to hear from you.
Yay for "ass"!
forever!
